Mainstream Careers is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2039.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.



Emissions reduction targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 12.35 tCO2e by 2029. This is a reduction of 5%.
Our carbon emission reduction was 40% from 2022 to 2023, however in the next 5 years we anticipate rapid business growth, leading to more employees, larger office spaces etc. This period of rapid growth, we will be targeting 5% reduction in our carbon emission.

Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2022 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 13 tCO2e, a 40% reduction against the 2022 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract.
Completed carbon reduction initiatives:
Scope 1:
- Going paperless
- Electronic document storage
- Use of reusable teacups – ceramics and recyclables
- Encouraging email recipients to not print emails except it is necessary to do so – email footer.
- Energy efficient office building
- Energy efficient work equipment – laptops, etc
- Staff education re energy efficiency – posters, staff training, etc
Scope 2
- Building improvement – enhance building insulation, energy efficient windows and doors
- Automation, and control – implementation of smart building management systems. Optimises use eg lighting, heating, door openings etc
- Energy efficient equipment – upgrade lighting machinery, etc
- Supplier engagement. Collaborating with suppliers to provide energy efficient products.
Scope 3
- Logistics and transportation – low carbon options for logistics and postage
- Employee commute and business travel – remote work,
- Commuting incentives - public transport use, cycle to work, walk to work
- Waste management – Waste reduction, reusable cups and encouraging recycling of wastes.
- Product use and end of life – participate in take back programs. Implement end of life programs by implementing end of life initiatives for more energy efficiencies.
- Data collection and reporting – emission tracking, development of a robust tracking and reporting initiative across scopes 1-3 (particularly scope 3 as a bulk of our current emissions fall within this scope).
- Stakeholder engagement and education – Internal trainings to employees on emission reduction across all 3 scopes eg encouraging employees to reduce printing of documents expect it is necessary to do so.
Current reporting is year on year but we are considering a more frequent assessment such as monthly or quarterly.
Declaration and Sign Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
