About Mainstream Careers

Mainstream Careers Ltd (company number 09220759) was borne out of a desire to support individuals to transform their careers; from newbies to IT experts.
We coach and mentor individuals who desire a career in IT, most popularly Business Analysis, Agile Scrum, or Project Management. We also offer courses in other well sought after areas like Cyber Security and Robotics Process Automation.
Our most popular course is the Business Analysis Training and Work Experience. This kicks off with a 2-day face-to-face session where candidates are introduced to the core principles and techniques of Business Analysis. The introductions are followed quickly by presentation of a project for the candidates to work on, under the guidance of our well-experienced Project Managers.
The candidates will continue to work on the projects for 3 months and these will be managed using electronic means – tele conferencing, video conferencing, screen sharing tools (eg WebEx) and other relevant project management tools.
There is a GUARANTEED place on our projects for all our candidates; these are LIVE projects delivered either for our clients or for us.
As part of this package, we would review your CV with you, ensuring it is fit for purpose.

The original idea behind the creation of the Business Analysis discipline is to breach the gap between the IT and the Business teams. The Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for the understanding of the Business Requirements, documenting them appropriately and liaising with the IT teams to ensure these are well understood and can be implemented. It’s safe to say, broadly, that the 3 core areas of work for the BA are

  1. Facilitation – workshops, meetings, etc
  2. Documentation – Business Requirements Documents, Use Case documents, process maps, etc
  3. Stakeholder management – at various levels, senior, mid, junior

Think of a BA as the waiter at your local restaurant, who asks you (the business) questions to understand what you’d like to eat and drink. This process is known as facilitation. The waiter then writes (documents) these down, and passes on your requirements to the Chef or Bar Tender (IT teams) to prepare your requirements. The waiter is also responsible for ensuring that you are happy with both the restaurant and the meal you are served (stakeholder management).
